RAFW - The Hit List

The Rosemount Australian Fashion Week has come to a close, so here are the rest of our choices for the heavy hitters this year!

Aurelio Costarella

This Perth designer's S/S collection titled "Talisman" (meaning to possess supernatural or magical powers) is based on a personal journey he has been on, which he describes as "about personalities and the dark and light in each of us". We think it's just beautiful - flowing feminine details, floor-sweeping gowns and jaw dropping numbers. Well done!

Camilla and Marc

This brother-and-sister combo continue to thrill us with their comfort/chic designs - this time with an emphasis on shades of blush, powder blues and grey. So sweet and fresh, tailored yet fluid. A commendable effort from a fabulous duo.

Dion Lee

Exquisite tailoring, mixed pleated detail, knotted and wrapped fabric, sculpted dresses. This season again saw Lee's signature cut-outs on the arms of jackets, and beautiful folded work and prints. Makeup artists at Napoleon Perdis turned to Dutch painter Vermeer for inspiration, using China Doll liquid foundation and a medley of painterly luminizers to replicate the painter's magical way with skin and pearly light.

Romance was Born

Could this be the most visionary label to shape Australia's fashion future! Brilliantly artistic, avant garde, and all the while staying true to couture fashion, this is a revolutionary brand that will go on to become an international superstar. A thrilling ride and an unbelievably successful show, we'll be sure to keep out eyes out for Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales' future endeavours. Yes, Romance is indeed... born.
