Dress Me Pretty farewells Alexander McQueen

From skull print scarfs to dramatic catwalk shows. From obscenely obscure shoes to large-sized (and paraplegic) models, Alexander McQueen changed the face of fashion and unleashed it - untamed - into new territory.

Our favorite McQueen moments:
Who could forget the lobster-clawed Armadillo shoes that Lady Gaga wore throughout her entire Bad Romance music video:

... the theatrical catwalk shows he displayed:

... the models he abused (rumour has it that McQueen stylists laced the models up so tightly at Paris Fashion Week that one of them, 19-year-old Australian Abbey Lee Kershaw, passed out backstage from an overly-cinched corset)

... and the models he used. Think: 22 year-old disabled athlete/model Aimee Mullins fronted one of his London catwalk shows:

... outrageous plaid gown he designed for SJP:

... and of course, his skull scarves, coveted by fashionista all over the world:

I'll be wearing mine with pride.

Mr Lee Alexander McQueen, goodnight. Here's a message from one of our fans.

Stay Pretty

  1. A friend told me about your blog and I really enjoy reading it! Thought I should say so, hehe. Melbourne weather is terrible today,(it's raining outside my window now).

As for that little shop on Brunswick st, do you mean The Second Hand something-or-other? I've driven past it but never been in it. :(
