Angela's Big Trip - first stop, Korea!

Ange came to visit Gracie in Seoul for the first leg of her trip to Europe. The Dress Me Pretty girls reunite!!

Being pretty is of utmost importance, and as Gracie can no longer pull it off properly anymore (being 5.5 months pregnant), Ange got free raid of her bag and clothes closet.

6 outfits and 6 pretty bags in 6 days. Success!!

The girls went shopping in Myeongdong:

Shopping at Namdaemun & Dongdaemun markets:

Shopping in Cheongdam & Sinsa's "garosu-gil":

And of course, visited the Hello Kitty Cafe:

Kitty getting eaten step-by-step:

They visited the doggy cafe, ate lots of food and desserts...

... went for an ultrasound, visited the supermarket in Gracie's apartment, and ate 50c ribs!!

The talented Ange even made Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing for Gracie's collegues. They were so very pretty AND delicious!!!!

Gracie loved all her baby gifts from friends back home, but most of all the lilac sling - that she practised with her doggy Noodle. Fabulous!

Stay tuned for more on Ange's trip and Gracie's baby shower in Taiwan!

The Octopus has chosen...

World Cup mania is over, and Paul the octopus is finally getting some well-deserved rest.

But did you know that we have our very own psychic octopus in Australia? Cassandra, the genius cephalopod, has already picked Gillard as the winner of the upcoming Federal election... and if what she's wearing is any indication, she's CLEARLY made her choice for the best online accessories store!

All decked out in Dress Me Pretty goodies, what a very clever octopus indeed ;D

Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?

That would have to be Collette Dinnigan's 2010 bridal collection.

Taking inspiration from the classic tales of happily ever after, Collette Dinnigan's new "Snow White" bridal collection is a modern interpretation of timeless design delicately interwoven with couture craftsmanship.

This would have to be one of Dinnigan's sweetest collections yet. With intricate hand-beading and jewel details married with French laces, silk tulles and chiffons - these pretty creations are sure to awaken the childhood dreams of brides-to-be.

Definitely a collection for the romantics.

Our favorities - French Cotton Lace strapless dress and Crystal Flowers Strapless Applique Bodice gown. Simply beautiful!

Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows

Ange blogged a couple of weeks ago on Sugar Occasions that at she was going to attempt to make a multi-coloured rainbow lollipop cake - well here it is.

In the making (click play…so appropriate for this post I think)

Melting white chocolate (cake flavour) and pretty rainbow-coloured batter all lined up in a row.

Layering the batter (note all the Fitness First class tables in the background. If you eat this much cake...you're going to have to work out)

The final result ta-da!

The inside. It reminds me of Rainbow Paddlepop Lions.

Tiffany approves. She also reads Bride to Be Cakes in her spare time.

This cake took...
3 days (1 day for baking, 1 day for ganaching, 1 day for decorating)
6 different cupcake batter colours (pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple)
and 7 great Lollipop songs:
Aqua - Lollipop
Lil Wayne - Lollipop
Mika - Lollipop
Ghetto E - Lollipops
The Chaordettes - Lollipop
Leslie Gore - Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbow
Millie Small - My Boy Lollipop

Now all we need is a little more sunshine...

Hongdae Free Markets

Gracie & photographer Sylvia Kim went along to the Hongdae Free Markets last weekend to shoot for the upcoming August Fashion Column for 10 Magazine. The market is called a "free" market (not flea market) because it showcases a collection of original works by aspiring designers and artists. Anyone with talent can set up a stall in the park, and the little area is packed full with uni students, locals and tourists.

The rain held out long enough for us to get our shots!

Some of my finds :)

Browsing is the best part :)

Artworks and caricatures:

LOVE these! Recycled fashion made from bottle caps and keyboards... too cute!

Handmade glass hairpins = lovely

Who said fashion couldn't be bought on a budget?

Cakes, cupcakes and the things in between

As you know the girls at Dress Me Pretty have been busy of late. Now with our weddings over and we are settling into married-life bliss (or should we say frenzy?) – it’s now full steam ahead for Dress Me Pretty again.

In particular, Ange has been keeping herself busy with baking and cake decorating. So much fun!

Check out the cakes (and cupcakes) on her new blog www.sugaroccasions.blogspot.com

A new pretty venture perhaps?? Watch this cake space!

2010 MTV Movie Awards

Not much to say about the fashion at the MTV Movie Awards last night - a whole lot of B-grade celebs attending a casual event for the masses *yawn*...

Most fell flat and died a humiliating death, the first to fall obviously being Katy Perry, with Lindsay Lohan close behind:

The Hilton sisters did alright, with Paris looking like the usual stuck-up poser that she is, and Nicky looking perfectly put together and and low maintenance, as always. Love those heels:

Other notable mentions include Vanessa Hudgens & Scarlett Johansson - always lovely.

Speaking of B-Grade, Victoria Justice and Stephanie Pratt also looked kinda cute:

Overall, rather ho-hum fashion but hey, its not bad for MTV.

A big shout out and congrats to Rain, who won the "Biggest Badass Star" award for his role in Ninja Assassin. His acceptance speech fell super flat though, very cute attempt but we suggest he continue to take those English lessons. Click here to watch.
